About Me: I am a certified
Occupational Therapist, employed by the Chesterfield County School District.
My true love is Pediatrics, but I enjoy working at the local nursing homes
in the afternoons after school. I enjoy running a few summer camps for
disabled children in Cheraw and being a counselor at Camp Can Do, a camp
for burned children held on Seabrook Island. In my free time, I enjoy deer,
duck and dove hunting with my husband, Eric. When it’s not hunting season,
we enjoy being in the woods scouting for deer, or just riding the four
wheelers on our 163 acre farm. We also enjoy bass fishing and then
having a fish fry!!
Anyone that knows me, knows
that horses are a huge part of my life. At our barn in Cheraw, we have
three other Quarter Horses- Casper (Rapid Rapido), Jay (Tempten Fox) and
Ladybug (Ribbon Flight Six). One of my fondest memories with Casper is
his participation in the Special Olympics World Games when they were held
in Raleigh during the summer of 1998. The resident “mousers” at the barn
are Mama Kitty, PJ, and Little. I also have a Manx cat at home, Tigger,
and a chocolate lab, Beau, who loves to hunt with me. I have been riding
for as long as I can remember, but just began showing Quarter Horses on
the AQHA circuit in 2003. In the past few years, I have accomplished a
lot at the local QH shows competing in all-around events. In 2006, I was
Novice Amateur All-Around Champion for NC and Eastern NC with Chex This
Style. In 2007, "Hope" and I accomplished alot in both NC and Eastern
NC Quarter Horse Associations. We won lots of circuits in pleasure,
showmanship and horsemanship, as well as many year end championships and
all-arounds! We've also earned some amateur and open points!
The upcoming year will be
a little different for Hope and I. We're both going on "maternity
leave". I'm due in August and will have a new baby girl. Hope's
being bred to Hot N Blazing, to foal next year. How exciting for
us both! I know she'll make an awesome mommy!
All of this wouldn’t be possible
without the love and continued support of my devoted husband and my wonderful
parents. I’d never be able to do all this without their help at the shows
and at our barn. I am also very thankful to Rickey and Lynn for all the
guidance and support they’ve given me. It’s so wonderful to have such an
inspirational group of fellow horse lovers to share in all this fun! I
couldn’t ask for a better show family than the one I have at Valley Hill
Farm. I also thank God everyday for sending me “Hope” and giving me the
opportunity to ride such a great horse. Thanks also to the Webb family
for allowing me to purchase this awesome mare.
Good luck to everyone this
show season! I hope to see you at the shows- that’ll be me with the big
smile on my face- having fun and making memories!
