Glenn Wickre

Age:  47
Resides: Kitty Hawk, NC
Horse:  Mickey Made

About me:
I was born in Norfolk, Virginia and moved to Skippers, Va in 1978 to help his parents build a campground. His experience in carpentry led to a position as a cabinet maker and then as a project manager for a large commercial millwork company in Richmond, Virginia upon his marriage to his wife, Kim.

Glenn decided he wanted to be his own boss and with the help of his wife, Kim incorporated his first business in 1988. This business provided custom millwork, interior trim and cabinet installation in larger custom homes and commercial applications. His dedication and perfectionist streak caught the attention of a developer in Richmond, who promptly asked him to move his company to the Outer Banks. They moved in 1989. After several years of subcontracting work, Glenn created a general contracting company called G.M. Wickre Corporation. Through the years, the company has been fortunate to attract clients who want to create unique custom homes with an emphasis on high quality detail. As they enter their 17th year of business, both Glenn and Kim are thankful for the business that has created a successful and flexible quality of life for their family.

Glenn got hooked back into horses at the insistence of his wife, Kim and daughter, Farley. He had a barrel racer growing up that he used mostly for trail and knocking around. The show aspect is a new area for him and he looks forward to 2007 on the family horse, Mickey Made, focusing on trail, horsemanship and showmanship. He and his family enjoy the common ground they all share with their love for horses. Kim and Farley are especially thankful for “Daddy” taking care of them. Glenn loves the horseshows for the showing, the friends and all the shopping for tack! He’s always bringing something new back to the trailer in case “we might need it”.
