Christina's love of horses started early and she received her first Quarter Horse when she was eight years old. Her focus soon changed to American Saddlebreds and she was fortunate enough to show Nationally until she started college. She stopped riding for almost 25 years and then one day a friend invited her to go ride at her parent's boarding facility and she hasn't stopped riding since. She's been back in the saddle for almost 12 years now and couldn't imagine life without horses. She tried different disciplines and trainers until she found Rickey and settled into his program. He has a special way with horses and riders that she respects. He is very patient and has helped her and her horses reach their full potential. They work very hard but they also have fun and learn a lot. She is currently showing Enuff Invested aka Pokey in the all around events.
Her career path has led her into real estate and for the past twelve years she has been a Realtor with Coldwell Banker, Howard, Perry & Walston. She loves meeting new people and making new friends. When she's not showing horses, Christina enjoys reading and traveling.

The VHF "Posse"
Lynnette Smith, Amateur
Lynnette got her start in the horse business at the "horse crazy" age of nine. She showed 4-H through her first year of college. With great regret she had to put horse's on the back burner until 2000 when she bought a 2 year old mare, Ima Cool Tia aka Freckles. They had great success earning two NCQHA Reserve Champion Novice Amateur All Around awards, a Champion Novice Amateur Pattern Horse award, numerous circuit championships and halter awards. The pair also qualified for the AQHA World Show in Amateur Aged Mares.
She took a short break from showing to raise two beautiful foals out of Freckles, Tias Cool Version and Tias Curious George. While her babies were growing up she rode a big gelding, Be Boppin Barney, for one season getting her feet wet in the regular Amateur division wining circuit championships and an Amateur All Around award. Tias Cool Version was a contender in the western Pleasure division earning a Reserve Champion award in the NC Breeder's 3 yo Western Pleasure class. Lynnette is currently showing, Tias Curious George aka Thurman-George, in the Novice Amateur division. She has gained much enjoyment raising and developing her own show horses with Rickey's expert guidance and friendship. Rickey's attention to detail is a great fit for her competitive, analytic way of thinking that she has fostered over the years as a professional musician.
She resides near Elizabeth City, NC with her husband Wes and dog, Roscoe. She teaches music for the Elizabeth City Pasquotank Public Schools, is an adjunct professor of flute for Elizabeth City State University and is a freelance, professional flute and piccolo player in the Tidewater area of Virginia.
Ashlyn Bodine, Youth
Ashlyn has grown up in the horse show world and on the farm. Like her Mom, Lynn, she loves horses. Her stepdad, Rickey Moore, has trained and coached her in the all around events since she was six years old. Rickey knew she was born to ride the first time he saw her on a horse. She has been very successful throughout her show career including being a finalist at the All American Quarter Horse Congress, earning several circuit, high point, all around and year end awards for both NCQHA and EQHNC. She has also participated on the NCQHA and EQHNC Congress youth teams. She has shown Sterling, Izzy and Peek-a-Boo in small fry classes and at age 10 she began riding Boogaloos Big Zip aka Boogie, a 17hh bay gelding that they've raised since he was a yearling. He's also Sterling's half brother, She and Boogie were a great personality fit and they developed a bond that helped them to excel in Halter, Showmanship, Hunter under Saddle, Equitation and Horsemanship. In 2013 Boogie had to be retired and Ashlyn set her sights on a 3 year old gelding that the family bred and raised on their farm, SouthernStyleMachine. She will be showing him in 2014 in Youth Western Pleasure. She is excited to begin this new journey!
Ashlyn is a rising Junior at Mooresville High School where she plays on the Volleyball team (she plays on a traveling team too!) and was recently inducted into the National Honor Society for her excellence in academics. She wants to become an occupational therapist working with physically and mentally impaired kids. She also wants to open a therapeutic riding program at the farm one day.
Lynn Bodine, Amateur
Lynn grew up with horses but never showed until 2002. After 2 years with Pam and Eddie Jackson riding in just the Hunter under Saddle classes, Lynn opened Valley Hill Farm (VHF) in Mooresville, NC. Rickey Moore was hired as the trainer and with his clientele and experience, VHF flourished. As the old saying, 'The rest is history". Lynn began showing all around events with Zips Big Spender aka Sterling, garnering numerous circuit, all around and year end awards plus AQHA Superiors. They have earned points in Halter, Showmanship, Hunter under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Pleasure Driving, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, Trail and most recently Western Riding. She has shown many other horses to class and futurity wins but keeps coming back to the big sorrel gelding with a heart of gold. Thanks to Rickey's loving hand and talent, Sterling is still going strong after 10 years.
Lynn is currently finishing up her Bachelor's in Accounting and will sit for her CPA exam. She is currently employed as the Accounting/Tax Manager for a CPA firm. In her spare time she enjoys doing anything outside at their farm in Mebane, NC.
