Rickey was born May
24, 1957 in Mebane, NC to Elbert and Patsy Moore. He resided in Mebane,
NC until September 2004 when he joined Valley Hill Farm. Rickey worked
in the tobacco fields and with animals all his life and has been a trainer
since 1980 and shown horses since 1983. He is a graduate of Eastern Alamance
High School and received an Engineering degree from East Carolina State
University. After graduating high school he worked for Mebane Home Telephone
as a Communications Engineer for 24 years.
Rickey and his uncle, Dwight
Mace, built their own training facility in 1990 called Oaks Quarter Horses.
Rickey decided that after working for many years with trainer and judge
Larry Little he wanted to step out on his own. Rickey works with both adults
and children and specializes in all-around horses. He has had several Top
Ten Congress winners such as Lisa Oliver, Brandon Armwood, and Lillie Henderson.
His goal is to train a World Champion horse one day.
Rickey is implementing a
plan at Valley Hill Farm that will result in breeding performance horses,
raising the babies, breaking them and then offering them for sale. The
first baby was born at the farm in April and the first two-year old will
be ready this fall. We, at Valley Hill Farm, feel honored to have Rickey
as our trainer and part of our family and are excited to watch our farm
grow. |
